Storz couplings are usually made of metal. The materials used in manufacturing can be stainless steel, brass or aluminum. Aluminum Storz couplings are recommended because of their low cost and corrosion resistance.
When they are used in low pressure scenarios, couplings are made of cast metal. However, in high-pressure water applications, Storz couplings are made of forged metal. This is done to enhance toughness and make it suitable for excessive pressure.
There are two lug nuts inside the Storz coupling. There are two additional lug nuts in the connector. When twisted together, the two pairs of nuts are connected with each other. The sealing ring is made of nitrile rubber.
